Supprex-200 Fire Suppression System
One of the greatest fears encountered in the collection of weld smoke, plasma or laser cutting dust is an uncontrolled fire. Many of the dust particles which are collected in today’s industry are combustible and can ignite without any notice or warning. The potential fire hazard in the dust collection system great fear for many plant managers today. Anyone who has ever had or witnessed a dust collector fire knows that a fire can be very expensive. With fires in collectors and welding processes the fire produces a thick smoke and the whole building may need to be evacuated. With this in mind, RoboVent has spent years in the research and study of fires and have developed a patented fire suppression system. Components of the system include spark arrestance, safe sensors, dampers, horn strobe, and the engineered Supprex-200 fire suppression system.

RoboVent, the leader in effective air filtration solutions. One of the greatest fears encountered in a collection of weld smoke, plasma, or laser cutting dust is an uncontrolled fire. Many of the dust particles which are collected in today’s industry are combustible and can ignite without any notice or warning. The potential fire hazard in dust collection systems is a great fear for many plant managers today. Anyone who has had or witness a dust collector fire knows that a fire can be very expensive. With fires and dust collectors in welding processes, the fire produces a thick smoke and the whole building may need to be evacuated. With this in mind, RoboVent has spent years in the research and study of fires and have developed a patented fire suppression system. The components of the system include spark arrestance, safe sensors, dampers, horn strobe, and the engineered Supprex 200 fire suppression system. If smoke is every detected within the unit on the clean side of the filters, a series of controls shut down dampers to contain the smoke and smother the fire. In the unlikely event, the heat is detected and the fire continues to progress. FM200 gas is immediately release to suppress the fire. With the Supprex 200 system, there is little or no clean up after a fire. Any form of cutting or welding create sparks. It’s the sparks that causes the fire. How many sparks does your cutting welding operation create in a day? Millions. That’s why RoboVent stops sparks from entering the duct or intake of the dust collector. If these sparks are not contained, it only takes minutes before a fire is started. With RoboVent proprietary spark arrestance system, notice that no sparks get past. Virtually eliminating the risk of a fire. But what would happen if the sparks still got through and a fire started? Let’s start a fire and take a look.
Within seconds, the safe sensor identifies that something is wrong, sounds an alarm, and shuts down the unit. The blower stops, and very importantly so does the powered flex compressed air filter cleaning system. This means that the air flow doesn’t continue to feed oxygen out of the fire. And notice that the fire, immediately begins to die down. Seconds later, dampers on the inlet close, further cutting off the air flow and the oxygen supply and helping to smother the fire. Note that very little smoke has escaped into the plant. This is the point where the plant maintenance personal would typically interview, review the filter, check everything carefully and get things up and running again as quickly as possible. This is as far as the fire gets typically, however if for some reason a fire was to continue to progress. And we’re gonna help this one a lot a bit with a little lighter fluid. There she goes. And it’s out, that quick. With FM200, there is no major clean up job, no powder everywhere, again just replace the filer and you are up and running. The Supprex 200 system is brought to you by RoboVent. RoboVent provides custom designed engineered solutions specific to your processes. RoboVent is a unique proven engineer air filtration system designed specifically for your manual and robotic welding applications. It captures and removes the weld smoke so your employees can breathe clean air, your plant stays cleaner and you save money. At RoboVent, proper ventilation is not a quick fix and then hope for the best. We spent decades improving and perfecting the ventilation process and the removal of weld smoke is our specialty, you’ll appreciate our talented staff, our dedication and our relentless pursuit of perfection.
