What is the MERV rating for dust collector filters?
Dust collector cartridge filters come in a range of filtration efficiencies (MERV ratings) for various applications. The higher the MERV rating, the more efficient the filter will be at collecting smaller particulate. (Note that all dust collector filters will approach a MERV 16 rating as they form a dust cake with use.) RoboVent cartridge filters are available in MERV 11, MERV 15 and MERV 16.
How often should I change my dust collector filters?
The replacement schedule for cartridge filters in dust collection systems depends on various factors, including the type of dust being collected, the amount of dust, filter quality, and the specific usage and environment. Typically, industrial cartridge air filters should be replaced at least once a year. However, some settings may require more frequent replacements. Indicators for replacement include visible signs of wear or damage, a decline in performance such as increased pressure drop, noticeable dust emissions, or reduced airflow. It's important to conduct regular inspections and follow the maintenance guidelines recommended by the manufacturer to determine the best time for filter replacement.
Do I need to buy OEM replacement filters for my dust collector?
In some cases, the dust collector manufacturer may require the use of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) replacement parts and consumables, including dust collector filters, to maintain the warranty. In that case, you should purchase OEM cartridge filters for the duration of the warranty period. Beyond that, the most important thing to consider is the quality of the replacement cartridge filter. Some aftermarket cartridge filters, such as those made by third-party suppliers without specific expertise in industrial cartridge filters, are made cheaply and do not have the same quality as filters made by the OEM. These off-brand cartridge filters, often made cheaply overseas, may use inferior materials and have poor quality control. That’s why it’s important to order replacement cartridge filters from a supplier that guarantees quality. At RoboVent, all of our replacement cartridge filters are manufactured in the USA under strict quality control conditions and backed by independent lab results. Our filters are guaranteed to meet or exceed OEM specifications for filtration efficiency, longevity and performance.
